Facilities Management – Introduction

According to IFMA, Facilities Management is a profession that encompasses multiple disciplines to ensure functionality of the built environment by integrating people, place, process and technology.

This is accomplished by developing a Strategic Facility Plan which, through in-depth analysis identifies the type, quality and location of spaces required by an organisation results in an achievable and affordable plan to meet the organisation’s needs, involving:

  • Gap analysis to identify the difference between current situation and analysed needs
  • Compare actual performance with potential performance
  • Financial analysis to determine the yield on the highest return at the lowest risk
  • Benchmarking the organisations results against leading organisations.
